Moonrise Kingdom Wes Anderson films are not for everyone. I remember working at Movie Gallery my senior year of high school when The Royal Tenebaums came out. I was in freaking love with that movie, which was one of the first films that made me understand camera setups, framing devices and how it contributes to the story’s depth. However whenever I recommended it, people hated it (as in anyone over 40). So I have stopped recommending Wes Anderson films. Will I recommend Moonrise ... continue reading...

Book Reviews: When it Happens to You
When It Happens to You: A Novel in Stories Author: Molly Ringwald I notice that the reviews for When It Happens to You have been temperate. It is true, some of the stories sizzle, and some do not. What amazes me is what Ringwald does with a very difficult task: short stories are an art form. Book Reviews: Saving Each Other
Saving Each Other: A Mother-Daughter Love Story Author: Victoria Jackson & Ali Guthy Awe inspiring. On your tippy toes good reading. To Kill a Mockingbird warmth and courage. Victoria and her 16 year old daughter Ali present a gut wrenching true account of how they created victory out of the threat of death. The strangest thing is that this book hit my desk at that point in my life when I needed it, so I felt gifted. And to be objective, it’s one of the best books I've read on denial and lies. In his forward to this book, Dr. Alan Zimmerman states: “Unfortunately too many people ‘play pretend,’ and keep on ‘playing pretend’ even ... continue reading...

It doesn't take a Coco Chanel to figure out what is new this season in hat wear – the reliable; one size fits all wool beret. Until I moved to Utah, I NEVER wore hats, although I loved Jackie Kennedy who defined hats for American women and style. It’s wicked cold here though so I have an entire collection of scarves, boots, couture coats – and hats. ... continue reading...
