When most people hear about star signs, Mercury in retrograde, and the moon as a predictor of behavior, they are skeptical. There are naturally strong questions. Why would the position of the stars influence our personalities? What does Mercury have to do with what is happening on Earth?
However, while skepticism is warranted, it often presupposes that there are no answers to the questions. Rather than acknowledging that nature does influence us in very clear and obvious ways, it is easier to call all of it a hoax.
Let’s take a look at whether nature influences us, before going into what it can tell us about ourselves.
Does nature influence human behavior?
If we think about this question for just a minute, the answer is obvious. Of course, nature influences us. Pollen in the air makes us sneeze. In hot weather, we spend more time outside. During the cold months, we huddle up together inside. Some people even suffer from mood disorders associated with the changing seasons.
The problem is that most humans are conditioned to consider anything immeasurable as unreal. While we can quantify the amount of pollen in the air, we cannot measure the impact of the moon on human behavior. Nor can we measure the impact of a star sign on an individual’s personality.
Nonetheless, if you do open your mind to the possibility of the unquantifiable impacts of nature, you will begin to see certain patterns emerge.
Love of the moon
When people speak of the moon as an influencer of human behavior, many skeptics immediately think of werewolves. Because of the association of this myth with the cycles of the moon, people easily dismiss any supposed impact on themselves.
However, it should not be surprising that mood impacts human behavior. The moon’s position determines the tides, and humans are 70% water after all. Of course, the impact is not nearly as drastic as that of the moon on the tides. But the change is there.
This brings us to the influence of the moon in love readings. During a full moon, people are more extroverted and energetic. We also have a higher sex drive. In a love reading, a psychic or guru will measure the influence of the moon on your romantic life. It’s prudent to pay attention.
Star sign personalities
Star signs are one of those topics that immediately divide people. One person may state that they are a Scorpio and their two friends will have opposite reactions. The one will exclaim that it makes complete sense; the other will accuse them of confirmation bias.
Confirmation bias is the biggest criticism laid against astrology. The claim is that people hear a number of descriptors used in relation to themselves and others. They take the ones that fit as proof that the reading is real while forgetting about those that don’t fit.
However, the existence of confirmation bias does not negate the accuracy of star signs. If you struggle to take astrology seriously, consider this. Why is it strange that a person is influenced by the time period during which they are born? The influence of the energies of stars is only one part of it. Other factors include what is going on during that time: the climate, holidays, and even the age the person will be when they start school.
Auras
Auras may be the most derided way of explaining behavior and personality. The claim that certain people can see and interpret colors and energies emanating from other people sounds ridiculous. Until you give it a bit of thought.
The reality is that every single one of us can read certain traits and moods of people just from seeing them. Some are more adept at it than others, but all of us understand that this ability to read people exists. Auras are not some mystical forces that make people act in one way or another. Rather, they are simply how some gifted people are able to read others.
In other words, the moods and personality traits that we see in a person’s body language, speech, and behavior, appear as more quantifiable measures for someone who sees auras. Think about it like music. Those of us who can hear will identify the energy of a song in certain ways. People who cannot hear, on the other hand, will feel vibrations and be able to make similar conclusions. All of us can feel those vibrations, but you have to be tuned into them to notice them.
Mother Nature influences human feelings and behaviors. Skepticism is understandable, but sometimes it is worthwhile hearing out what people are saying.
