A morning routine is a popular concept right now, but it’s not just a passing fad that’ll come and go. Because we all have a morning routine, whether we’re conscious of it or not! Think about it: do you always do the same things after getting out of bed? If you do, you’re in a routine!
But we want to focus on building a healthy one and why that would be so beneficial for you. Rather than just hop out of the covers, shower, dress and get to work, you should think about slowing down and including food, exercise, and self care techniques too. Here are a few reasons why.
It’s a Chance to Shake Off Stress
Whether you like to go for a run or you simply do some affirmations in the mirror, a morning routine gives you at least one chance a day to check in with yourself. How did you sleep? How do you feel? What do you have to do today? This is where you can answer all these questions, psych yourself up for the day’s events, and do breathing exercises, meditation, or yoga to help you stay calm.
Ensures You Eat Breakfast
Yes, the old adage of breakfast being the most important meal of the day has truth to it. And when you have a morning routine, you’ve got time to consume even just a piece of toast before rushing out to work, an appointment, a meeting or to see a friend. Get up a bit earlier, eat something filled with energy, and you’ll feel better than ever.
To Help Keep Your Skin Healthy
Our skin is the biggest organ in our body, and yet it’s quite often the most ignored one of all. Being picked and scratched, rubbed and itched, exposed to the outside elements, and various bug bites – your skin goes through a lot of abuse throughout the day!
But if you give yourself time to focus on it in the morning, you can soothe it, hydrate it, and help it glow. You can also use this time to check out the condition of your skin; if you need to potentially book into a skin clinic in the future, a daily inspection is your chance to catch a problem early.
Gives You Some Buffer Time
If you’re awake early, you’ve got ‘extra’ time in the day. How does that work? Well, you’ll never be late for something for one! You’ll also have time to get a jumpstart on the day’s events if need be.
Maybe you need to do some work before your shift starts? Or maybe you need to finish icing a cake for a friend’s birthday party late? More time now, more time later – it’s as simple as that. Use this buffer time in whatever way you need to, just as long as you get breakfast and a good moisturizing session in first!
A morning routine is good for you. Try to develop one for well-being success.
