Today’s post is written by our own Bro’ B (BEN), and he’s mixing business (outside of The Review Broads) with a little fun as he delves into a brand new site.
As a social media professional I am always looking for new places to find information for clients.
It’s kind of a pain in the butt when you’re looking for fresh information for a post for a client that you’ve been working with for years. Week after week I keep pulling up the same information…it makes me want to continually bang my head through my cheaply made Ikea desk (I have a theory: any item bought at Ikea has one year of use and will break when you least expect it but yes some day – hard head vs particle board I’m certain my noggin will win). Google and Mashable only work some times and looking through article directories is so tiring. So this AM I signed up for Kumbuya and it’s kinda just what I need.
On Kumbuya, users join and create themed communities called Communities. Within each community, members connect over the things they love by posting topic-related media, comments, and user-generated content. Because communities are curated by the most enthusiastic fans, members get to engage in a beautiful medium that caters directly to their interests.
After signing up I started joining communities and I’m going to be starting them for clients.
The layout is very easy and all the information is also quite easy to find. This is a great place for people with particular passions to go and trade information with each other, interact on a social level, and meet others with similar interests. Why haven’t I known about this forever? This network is kinda perfect. What is even better is that I can embed the community on my site so anyone my blog readers can join my Kumbuya circle and YES – even buy from anyplace it is embedded.
It’s a visual feast, and frankly…I had a hard time LEAVING, as I wanted to look and look and look some more. Oh and YES there IS a community for bacon lovers and another for beer lovers, then again…these days I’m concentrating on Healthy Eating (and you’re CORRECT in assuming there’s a community for that as well).
But wait there is more????
You can sell things to your community or in an open marketplace! This is kinda rad. So if I had a bowling community and I had a ton of extra bowling balls I could sell them on here to people in the community and would actually really enjoy them. You can sell to your personal community members, and even allow others in your community to sell on yours. The benefits of growing can be a great way for like minded “friends” to buy from people that they know and trust, and YES you can use PAYPAL (a huge plus in my book).
Unlike other existing social platforms that turn your users into their commodities, Kumbuya empowers you to benefit from the community that you build and that you curate. Kumbuya offers individuals and businesses the ability to seamlessly communicate through common interests, which transitions into buying and selling more effectively than other social networks based on friends and personal relationships.
I have a feeling that Kumbuya is going to quickly become the perfect place to source material and learn about any niches that you are into.
It’s still new and because I’m not all that familiar with it I’m still searching for communities that I would be interested in. These communities are still very small and I’m very excited to see what happens as it builds.
The best part
Is that it’s FREE to join and a GREAT addition for businesses, bloggers, and well…just about ANYONE.
