Just because you call something a party, doesn’t mean it’ll turn out to be one. Nothing is worse for a host than a party that never got started. Let’s face it, to get people energized, up and moving, you have to give them a reason. No one wants to fake their enthusiasm, they want to be motivated to dance, drink and mingle. Throwing a party isn’t as easy as it might seems. You have to have a theme, there must be something for everyone so no one feels left out and you have to lead by example if you want people to get out of their shell. You need stuff that makes people want to throw their hands up in the air like they just don’t care!
Old and new
Hire a DJ. just do it. You have to play music at a party, otherwise, it’s just awkward. Music also gets people to relax as dead air slows down the pace of people drinking and eating. However, when you do hire a DJ, make sure you have decided a playlist together. You need old songs or ‘classic’ songs that everyone knows and sing along to. You’ll also need some new songs that are topping the charts. This gives your party a contemporary youthful vibe. Artists that are at the top of their game, will be known by most people and if not, it introduces people to a new song they haven’t heard before.
Harmless party games
Not every party has to have drinking games. Some of your guests might not be drinkers at all, so they might feel left out of the fun if there are no alternatives. Party games like cup pong are great because they don’t take up much space, anyone can play them and they’re cheap to set up. Twister is a great game as it involves multiple people who are physically playing and others that have to give instructions. It should be played as a team game as well. Texas hold ‘em poker is a great game that everyone can play. No money needs to be involved at all, just use chips instead. It involves calculation, the ability to read people and take risks.
Speciality drinks
A cooler full of beer is great but nothing gets people partying like specialty drinks. Give your guests something they may never have tried before like a margarita machine rental. You don’t need ice as the machine makes the drink cool and soft. Slice up a lemon or lime and cover the edge of the glass with salt or sugar. Another specialty drink that most people will like is a rum cocktail. Rum is very pliable, meaning it accepts many other flavors. Make tropical drinks with watermelon or grapefruit juice, mixed with rum and a few cubes of pineapple. The classic gin and tonic is so easy and should be on offer too.
A DJ that knows his or her classics but can put on a thumping modern tune, is invaluable at a party. Specialty drinks allow people to explore their taste buds and loosen up.
