We received a year of Netflix and an Apple TV for our participation in the Netflix Stream Team. All opinions are strictly our own. I love nothing more than a good old fashioned beach read, but here in South Florida, which means that MOST afternoons the sky is full of thunder, lightening and downpours. So, leaving the beach by NOON is a regular occurrence and finding something fun to do at home as I watch the storm happen outside is easy….at least it is with Netflix. While at night I love nothing more than a good reality TV train wreck, I figure that I need to be able to watch SOMETHING of substance during the afternoon as I curl up on the sofa, with the computer in my lap typing posts and watching something educational. If you think that educational shows are just for KIDS, you haven’t looked at some of the incredible documentaries available.
Here are SIX that are on my summer watch list
1. Food, Inc. – a look at what’s REALLY behind the food that we eat. I’m waiting to watch this one at the VERY moment that I start my diet. 2. Blackfish – A look at the life of a killer whale who DID kill while in captivity…more of a real look at why we should NOT be holding these wonderful creatures in tanks. A MUST SEE. 3. Inequality for All – If you’re anything like my husband, you fancy yourself to be a bit of a political talking head and this flick offers up Former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich on the serious crisis the U.S. faces due to the widening economic gap. 4. Unzipped – Right up my alley, this look at Isaac Mizrahi as he puts together his 1994 shows. FASHION!!! 5. Jesus Camp – I’ve been wanting to see this since Ben told me about it back in 2006, it’s very controversial (which I LOVE). 6. The Invisible War – A look into rape and sexual assault in the military and the victims who have to defend themselves (yes, I said victims defend themselves).
