The Big Year [Blu-ray]This film could have gone many different directions. The Big Year could have been a Christopher Guest style mockumentary, or a beautiful depiction of mans connection with nature, or a interesting character piece about birders. Unfortunately the Big Year is none of these things. The Big Year is a middle of the road comedic piece that grabs at all of these things but never holds on too long. The Big Year is loosely based on a nonfiction book of the same name--"This is a ... continue reading...

Coming Soon: Frankenweenie
I haven't asked Bro'B about Tim Burton's Frankenweenie, but I can tell you that the rest of the family is EXTREMELY excited to see this twisted tale that brings Sparky the dog back to life, especially Clem the mini-bull-terrier. The last time we saw a bullie in a movie, it was Space Buddies (and Clem's sister Connie played the part of Sputnik), and we've been waiting rather impatiently ever since.Yes, we're crazy dog people who can't WAIT to see the 3D stop motion animated film in black and ... continue reading...
DVD Reviews: The Son of No One
The Son of No One [Blu-ray]Do we need another cop drama? No. I cannot count how many I have seen. The key to all cop dramas are the characters, the plot to me is completely secondary. That’s a slapful of flabby thighs! So when Z asked me to try out a new natural frozen food line, I hesitated. UNTIL – she told me the name of the line – Saffron Road Foods. I ... continue reading...
DVD Reviews: Rebecca

Except in "Rebecca's" case, it was from the woman's point of view. So you could call this a chick flick version of Vertigo? The secret to truly appreciating this movie is to get through the first hour or so of it. To be frank, that first hour is less than riveting. We find ourselves following the romance and the early ... continue reading...
