Gone Girl I’m going to start this review a bit differently. I absolutely hated the novel Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. The Gone Girl novel was a lavishly praised exercise in cryptic dialogue, high school prose, and incompetent storytelling that defies conventional formula. Unfortunately, you can only defy the formula and get away with it if you are very good. Gillian Flynn just isn't. So, why was I so excited to see the feature film? David Fincher, David Fincher and David Fincher. He is my ... continue reading...

It’s SUNDANCE time!
It's less than 10 days shy of another Sundance Film Festival. This year, while I've got my press passes in hand, I may not be going due to a conflict, but we were there last Sundance for all of the new flicks, as well as the 25th anniversary showing of Kevin Smith's Clerks, at the Egyptian theater where it was first shown. BUT I am SINGLE and can’t make Crème Brule and duck a l’orange every night – I’d be eating it for weeks. I ... continue reading...
DVD reviews: The Trip to Italy
The Trip To Italy I want to preface this review by saying that I love the BBC series and movie The Trip and was not seeing any type of follow up in its future. The first film was self-indulgent, overly wordy and I loved every second of it. What we have here is a very talky, wordy, frenetic exercise of dialog yet again. Will it be as good as the first or will this one fill into a boring pothole that the original could have? There is now a lot of anticipation for this film but will it live up ... continue reading...
