Camping. Fishing. Enjoying the Summer Outside. And ……BUGS!!
My honey and I LOVE to camp and fish. BUT in the summer, Utah is infested with mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges. We have looked and researched clothing that will keep us not only insect free for comfort in the heat, but clothes that keep disease out of our lives while we are outside all summer long in the mountains. And now we have NET EFFECT clothing.
I sampled the men’s size large hoodie and so did Evan. The material is soft and light, and very comfortable. The fit was fantastic, as I like my clothes to fit large. Of course, Net Effect also carries women and children’s shirts, all soft and treated with Insect Shield® to provide long-lasting, invisible, odorless protection. I was concerned about an odor of some kind or an allergic reaction, but the Net Effects people have this down right. This is one of the most comfortable shirts I have ever put on, with no odor, and no reactions of any kind for me! I loved the awesome sayings on the hoodies too. These shirts are a must have for the entire family that enjoys outdoor living and playing all summer long.

WHICH INSECTS DOES INSECT SHIELD REPEL?
Insect Shield® Repellent Apparel has been proven and registered to repel mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers, and midges (no-see-ums). Insect Shield® Repellent Gear has been proven and registered to repel mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, and flies. The EPA requires extensive effectiveness data to prove a product’s ability to repel insects. Many species and varieties of these insects have been tested, including those that can carry dangerous diseases.
WHAT IS INSECT SHIELD?
The Insect Shield process binds a proprietary permethrin formula tightly to fabric fibers—resulting in effective, odorless insect protection that lasts the expected lifetime of apparel. Permethrin has been successfully used in the United States as an U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered product since 1977, with an excellent safety record. It is used in lice shampoos for children, flea dips for dogs, and various other products, some of which are regulated by the FDA.
TESTED AND PROVEN
Insect Shield technology results from years of intensive research and field study. Numerous studies have confirmed the effectiveness of permethrin-treated clothing as an insect repellent. Insect Shield’s own testing methods follow United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines, and the results conclusively show that our unique, long-lasting insect protection works.
WHO RECOMMENDS PERMETHRIN-TREATED APPAREL?
The following international agencies recommend insect-repellent apparel:
- The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): cdc.gov/travel
- The World Health Organization (WHO): who.int
- National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety: cdc.gov/niosh/topics/lyme/
- The American Academy of Family Physicians: http://www.familydoctor.org
- The Public Health Agency of Canada: phac-aspc.gc.ca
Insect Shield represents a promising new approach to the longstanding problem of protection against both insects and the diseases they can carry. All of the above agencies actively encourage at-risk individuals to use permethrin-treated clothing as a protective measure against insect-borne diseases.
