Planes: Fire and Rescue
As the Auntie of a 4 year old, I can tell you that if it’s automobile related and animated, I don’t have to ask if he’ll like it. Still…I asked Evan to sit and watch Disney’s newest DVD and within one minute he had planted himself in front of the TV and in his happy place. Of course mom sat with him and after the in-house screening I got the 911….wait, I mean the 411!
Once again Evan’s FAVORITE crop-duster come racer Dusty Crophopper (Dane Cook) is BACK, this time facing a REAL problem. He may NEVER be able to race again, due to a gearbox issue. In the meantime he gets a NEW JOB at the Propwash Junction Airport helping out rescue truck Mayday (Hal Holbrook). But FIRST Dusty has to become certified as a firefighter from Blade Runner (Ed Harris). The tale takes it’s twists and turns as we find out if Dusty’s got what it takes to take-on his new career.
I ALWAYS ask the reviewer how a sequel compares to the original film, and this one came through with FLYING COLORS. Evan gave it his big THUMBS UP, and mom Cayce thought it was even BETTER than the first one.
Of course the BEST part of watching it at home, are all of the specials that you don’t get when you see it at the theater!
Bonus Features:
A cute music video: Spencer Lee Music Video “Still I Fly”
Animated Shorts: “Blade Ranger” and “Piston Peak”
“PLANES: FIRE & RESCUE” is a new comedy-adventure about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire. When world-famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire-and-rescue helicopter Blade Ranger (voice of Ed Harris) and his courageous team, including spirited air tanker Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter (voice of Wes Studi), ex-military transport Cabbie (voice of Captain Dale Dye) and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero
