Burn Me Up Fast
Author: BT Rockwell
BT Rockwell is an author, producer, and audio engineer who spent years with the legendary Wu Tang Clan, chiefly with one of its star MCs, Raekwon the Chef.
“Burning the blunt at both ends is a way of life for Byron Bella, a twenty-something high-grade pot dealer, music lover, and closet author living in New York City, but the death of his little brother sparks a quest of self discovery leading Byron to re-evaluate who he is, who his friends are, and finally decide if he is brave enough to put down the blunt and pick up a pen before his illicit lifestyle catches up with him for good. Burn Me Up Fast is an introspective, thought-provoking novel, taking place in a fast paced world filled with drugs and parties, fear and guns, life lessons and ultimately, love.”
As I read Burn Me Up Fast, Rockwell’s perfect sense of timing in his portrayal of a young man living the ghetto life and that of his friends spoke volumes. With dialogue that sparks and flames, Rockwell catches Byron’s weakness and follows it as it becomes Byron’s great strength. A novel of the streets, and the courage it takes to crawl out, Burn Me Up Fast swells with reality. Great writing and authenticity!
