Sure you use your phone to take kitty and puppy pictures. You snap that beautiful beach photo and post it immediately to instagram. That dinner you made came out PERFECTLY, so you capture it and upload it to your blog along with the recipe for some GREAT traffic. That’s what you smartphone camera is for isn’t it?
While I personally use my camera phone for all of the above, it is the best way to
1. Take a photo of your parking spot
As a regular at the airport, I would NEVER remember where I parked after a seven day trip if I didn’t snap a photo of the shuttle stop and my car in it’s spot. After taking the red-eye from LA to Fort Lauderdale I’m tired, so pulling the picture up on the phone means not walking up and down the aisles trying to figure out where my car is.
2. Put my lipstick on
When I have no mirror, I simply but my phone into front facing mode and I can check and apply my makeup. OK, maybe this isn’t JUST for travel, but I never seem to have a mirror and like to freshen up before I get off of the aircraft.
3. Photograph the front of your hotel
I take a photo of my hotel, so I can show it to the cabbie when I need to get back….this is especially helpful when I don’t speak the language.
4. Snap a copy of passport
When you travel you should always have a copy of your passport in case it gets lost or stolen. Having a photo of it in the camera will insure that you can get a replacement should you be stranded in a foreign country.
5. Take a photo of your kids before going to an amusement park
You don’t EVER want this to happen, but if you get separated you not only have a photo of your child, but you’ll also have exactly what they’re wearing to be easily identified in a crowd.
6. Photograph your clothes in your suitcase
I’ve had it happen on a couple of occasions. I arrive and my luggage doesn’t. With a photo of what you had packed (you’ll have to do it before you actually pack it into your bag), you’ll have proof for the insurance company should you be standing by the carousel and realize…it’s not there.
7. Screenshot your airline ticket
I usually have my ticket sent to my email, but messing around with it as you approach TSA can slow the line down. If you screenshot the ticket, you can easily pull it up from your photos.
