Broad A: Having just read “Swimsuit” and “Daniel X: Watch the Skies” by James Patterson, I found myself checking out Patterson’s website ReadKiddoRead.com. WOW! I was just in the process of helping my Italian friend Jean who will start teaching fourth grade here in Utah for the first time. She asked me to assist her in compiling a fourth grade reading list for the school’s new library. Well, I have to tell you, I loved this website! I have two fourth grade grandkids, and I not only appreciated the books suggested for 8 to 9 year olds but realized that when I clicked on each book I got a lesson plan! The website is amazing, not only for teachers but for parents and grandparents for kids of all ages to get books as presents, for Christmas, birthdays and just to generally encourage our kids to read! As impressed as I am with Patterson’s writing skills, I am more impressed with this amazing website that is simple in layout and easy to navigate with enormous information on children’s books! Yeah! I immediately scanned Amazon and ordered ten books! Great going, Mr. Patterson!
Broad Z: I just got off the phone with Broad “A” who was babbling on and on about ReadKiddoRead. At first I thought she was telling me that I had to finish a book so that I could send it to her (yes, we share books), but when she finally slowed down I realized that she was talking about James Patterson’s site for kids and moms to help find age appropriate and FUN books in order to foster a love of reading. It seems that one of our favorite authors has taken the bull by the horns and created a fun and INTERACTIVE website that not only makes finding books easy for kids, but as a parent and future grandparent, it makes things easy for US as well.
