The Review Broads’ DIVA’s Care of The Face

Broad A here! Since Z reviews quite a few beauty products and I have too, I have been dying to write a review of my OWN skin care favs! The recipe I use has been handed down from aunt to aunt and cousin to cousin, and for our fair haired black Irish compexions, it is the best remedy I have ever used. My face is a combination of oily and dry, so these oils, all organic, do wonders for a healthy glow and anti aging.

Now, I am no chemist or cosmetologist, so just know this is MY CARE routine. I have used Dr. Perricone, Lancome, Clinique and some of the most expensive routines around and always come back to my homemade remedy and some favorite skin care companies, like Skin Free’s Corrective Face Nectar (later on this) and Cleopatra’s Choice dead sea soap and mud mask.

Products I buy on the internet:

• Source Naturals DMAE Face Serum
• Cleopatra’s Choice Dead Sea Mud Mask
• Skin Free Corrective Face Nectar and Soap (sometimes I use the Skin Free moisturizer when I am out of my homemade oils).

Homemade Recipe (all ingredients are from the Health Food Store)
5 TBS sesame oil
4 TBS avocado oil
2 TBS sweet almond oil (just regular almond oil can be substituted but the sweet is better for the skin)
3 TBS extra virgin olive oil
1 TBS wheat germ oil
25,000 IU vitamin A oil with retinol (I use 5 capsules per batch)
4,000 IU vitamin E oil (d-alpha tocephernol) (buy in health food store liquid)
Aloe Vera Gel (I buy the all natural gel in the health food store – a small bottle lasts about 6 months)

Mix all ingredients together and store main portion in fridge, along with extra oils. One batch lasts about 6-8 months, and the rest of the oils, etc. will make about another 2 batches, so while it seems costly, it isn’t. Also makes GREAT gifts for friends!

Set a small bottle out of the mix in your bathroom. Squirt about a dime’s worth of aloe vera gel into your hand and mix with about 4-6 drops of the oil. Blend together in hand and apply all over your face in upward motions. Also apply to your neck.

Along with this, I apply a small amount AFTERWARDS of the Source Naturals DMAE face serum and Skin Free Corrective Face Nectar on my skin spots and high wrinkle areas. The Corrective Face Nectar is AMAZING and it fades the spots really well.

Apply makeup and sunscreen and you are good to go in the morning. At night, just smile at your gorgeous face!

A few words about Skin Free and Cleopatra’s Choice, and Source Naturals. The Source Naturals face serum is very light and has essential oils in it. Skin Free Corrective Face Nectar contains:

1-Olea europea (olive) seed oil- a natural anti-inflammatory oil with great moisturizing properties
2- Prunes Amgdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil- a nutritious moisturizing oil
3-Squalane (olive derived)- very similar to skin sebum, so it soaks right in
4- Calophyllum inophyllum (tamanu) seed oil- one of the most exciting oils ever! Tamanu helps prevent wrinkles and sun damage. It stimulates new skin growth creating a more youthful look
5-Oenothera biennis (Evening Primrose Oil)- great for aging skin
6-Daucus carota (carrot) seed oil- Nature’s own “retin-a” it reduces wrinkles and helps with blemishes
7- Tocopherol (Vitamin E)- a natural anti-oxidant

And this oil is just wonderful when I apply it to sun spots. Mine are almost all gone after having used it for 2 years (since I first reviewed Skin Free). And Skin Free has some amazing new products that I will review soon! The Corrective Face Nectar also comes in a cream if you don’t like the oils (I do). It lasts forever!!!

Cleopatra’s Choice dead sea mud mask does not dry out my face nor does it cause blemishes to pop out all over like other masks I have used. You can also try whipped egg whites once a week, but this dried out my skin too much for me to use. I also love Skin Free’s soap and CC dead sea soap as they are as gentle as DOVE (my usual skin soap) only they leave my skin smoother and both smell delicious and are all natural.

SKIN FREE and CLEOPATRA’s CHOICE as well as SOURCE NATURALS are ALL natural. I do not EVER put anything with additives on my skin. My sunscreen of choice is ESPIONCE 50 SPF and I always wear it over my oil routine.

So this is a long post, but honestly ladies TRY IT! It makes a huge difference in my skin and I get so many compliments. I am 63 and look 50 due to a diligent and all natural skin care routine with a little help from my friends!
