It’s my favorite time of the year! Family is in from across the globe, decorations are up, and gifting is top-of-mind. With Hannukah being my favorite holiday ( 8 nights = 8 presents, what’s not to love? Not to mention the heavy endorsement of fried potatoes), I take time to find the perfect gift for those I love – but also, for myself.
Here are my top-5 must-haves, this holiday and beyond.
Party Rings
Ok. So, here’s the thing…I love anything that sparkles and makes a statement. And this year, I’m super into stackable gold rings. I call them my party rings because to me, they pull the focus to your hands. And AU-Rate New York has the party rings. All the party rings.
The thing I love about Aurate (which ok – to be fair – is everything), is that they’re very conscious of environmental impact. The gold they use is 100% recycled, sustainably handmade, cast, polished and perfected in NYC by seventh-generation craftsmen. And when they say that, they mean it.
I ordered the Brooklyn Bridge Ring as my gift this year, because of the elegance and simplicity of the design. Honestly, I couldn’t wait to get it. And since it arrived, I’ve yet to take it off. There are three rings I wear every single day. My engagement ring, wedding ring, and this Brooklyn Bridge Beauty.
Hair for It
If you know anything about me, it’s that I have a metric ton of naturally curly, curly, curly (did I mention, curly?) hair. So, naturally, that means my hair both retain a lot of water post-shower and takes forever to dry. It takes so long, I can’t let it air dry naturally (it would take 12+ hours, no exaggeration).
The BEST gift I could give to my hair routine was to stop using a bath towel (or a cut-up t-shirt) to dry my hair and start using the Volo Towel. It absorbs 10 times its weight in water and because it’s made from super plush micro-fiber, it helps avoid frizziness and breakage. This $39 towel has cut my drying time down from 12+ hours naturally, to 10 minutes.
It’s a great gift to those who are perpetually told, “Wow. That’s a lot of hair.” And it’s what I’m officially calling the superhero of my post-shower routine.
An Evening of Laughter
As a writer and a comedian (ßseriously. Not a joke.), there’s nothing I love more than being out and seeing a comedy show. So, this year, I treated myself (and the hubs) to TWO comedy shows. This has been an incredibly tough year for the two of us, so when two of our favorite comedians were coming to town, we decided that it was time to treat ourselves to a night out with Chris D’Elia and another night out with John Mulaney at the newly redesigned Hard Rock Live. And since we were there, why not stop for apps and drinks pre-show at the bar of our favorite place, Kuro.
It’s important to take some time to for you and your partner. And if really great comedians and great eats can be involved, that feels like a win to me!
A little Oooooh-And-Ahhhhh
The ultimate “treat yo self” starts at the S P A. The very second I’m feeling stress, it’s off to Lifestream Spa for me. They’re not just close to my house (which makes it easy to hop over there on a whim), but I’ve honestly never had a bad massage there. Not once. Not ever. So, for this holiday season, I treated myself to their monthly membership, which has special perks including discounts and extended treatments. Their facials? Excellent. Massages? Incredibly relaxing. And don’t forget the fun slippers at the beginning and relaxation room. I’m never disappointed when I take a trip there. And I cannot recommend them enough!
BUBBLY
There is nothing like a night of cuddling on the couch with my husband and our two dogs Jack and Betty with a cold glass of Tussock Jumper Prosecco. Sometimes it’s the simple things with a bit of sparkle that makes life feel like it’s all going to be all right. My mother-in-law introduced me to this wine recently and we’ve been trying each of the varieties and have found a few absolute favorites (like the Prosecco). It’s priced so that we can make any night a special night.
Do you have any gifts that you’ve bought for yourself this holiday season?
Zippy says
Happy Hanukkah. I buy gifts for myself each holiday season as well.
