Shopping Reviews & Giveaways: TJ Maxx & Marshall’s

Recently TJ Maxx and Marshall’s let the Broads LOOSE in their stores. Armed with a $25 gift card each we challenged ourselves to find the PERFECT outfit without stepping foot in one of those expensive Mall Stores and stay within the budget.

Broad A: OOOOH, how I love TJ MAXX. It’s school time again – with all the excitement, drama, and even a little nervousness on my 10 year old granddaughter Isa’s part that she’ll “have the right clothes.” On my stringent budget, I immediately thought – ok, time for girl shopping at TJ MAXX, since it’s on THEM!

Broad Z: I went in a totally different direction and headed to Marshall’s. OK, so I’m the selfish one of the two of us. Since my son is in college, I immediately thought…what can I get for myself? Oh “A” I wish you were here, because I’d have talked you into getting something for yourself as well (like I always do).

Broad A: Isa dove into the pre-teen department with a vengeance. Twenty outfits later (no lie, honey, I started calling all the salesladies by their first names and invited them all to lunch!) we finally found that perfect combo of with-it teen bravado – without showing too much leg! (Grandma lesson to Granddaughter – always be mysterious!) The scarf was the piece de resistance!

Broad Z: OMG, she tried on 20 outfits? You must have been exhausted. I just went in for the KILL. I saw those BIG SIGNS in the back that said my favorite word “CLEARANCE.” I knew that I’d make that $25 REALLY go far. I actually hit paydirt on my first go-round in the dressing room.

Broad A: I love finding treasure – a garage sale is my idea of dinner at the Ritz Carlton – and TJ MAXX is a true hunter’s dream!

Broad Z: Hmmmm….I wouldn’t go that far “A.” I’d still want lunch at the Ritz, and with my outfits that I found at Marshall’s, I’ll fit in PERFECTLY.

Broad A: We had a great time, as you can see, and Isa can’t wait to start the fifth grade at Bonneville School in her cool new duds!

Broad Z: Wow, I just checked out those photo’s of Isa and she’s going to be the one that ALL the girl’s want to dress like. You guys REALLY found the perfect outfit. You did that for under $25? WOW!

Broad Z: I actually put 1 1/2 outfits together for my $25. Well, ok – I went over by $2. I found the CUTEST black skirt. It’s cotton, so for me it’s a year round staple. I found a GORGEOUS black ruffled sleeveless knit top and a 3/4 sleeve brown top. These will take me YEAR ROUND in South Florida.

Broad A: Finding the prices at Nordstrom’s a little high brow? Mix it up ladies and follow the trail to the treasure chest at TJ MAXX. As an aside – we had the most helpful, nicest salesladies and check out people. They were awesome. Thanks TJMAXX. We’ll be back soon.

Broad Z: I agree with you “A” – very helpful sales people and the girl at the checkout did an oooooohhhh when she saw what I got for $27. By the way, I had to whisper during the video because people were STARING at me…LOL.
