by: Marcus Goldhaber
When I listened to Marcus Goldhaber’s newest CD, “Take Me Anywhere” I found myself in my mind’s eye sitting a spotlit piano bar, dimly lit lights, cast over linen tablecloths, glass on wine in hand, staring into the eyes of the handsome man across the bar.
Goldhaber’s mellow and cool voice with jazz background by the Jon Davis Trio moved across the room like sultry ocean breezes and soft palm fronds. His straight ahead jazz style reverberates with soft, lilting melodies, many composed by Goldhaber himself. The instrumentals are intricate and set themselves up as a firm foundation for the lyrics and Goldhaber’s sensual soothing voice.
Seven of the songs on Take Me Anywhere mark his debut as a songwriter and a successful one at that. I loved “No Moon at All” and “You’re Beautiful, you Know That”.
Favorite Tracks:
- “No Moon at All”
- “You’re Beautiful, you Know That”
Overall: Reminds me of a young Andy Williams with a Sinatra-esque overtone.
