There aren’t too many things more fun than a long road trip, is there? But of course, it’s only supremely fun when it’s something that you’re doing out of choice. If you and your partner are doing it because you have to be somewhere then, yes, it can still be fun, but you have to take some steps to bring the fun. It won’t happen automatically. In the coming weeks, you might find that you have to drive long distances in order to be with your friends and family on Thanksgiving and for Christmas. If that’s the case, then take a look at our tips below. You and your partner will have a great time.
Well-Rested and Excited
You should start as you mean to go on, is what they say. If you’re going into the trip thinking that it’s going to suck, then guess what? It’s going to suck. If, on the other hand, you’re thinking in a positive frame of mind, and you’re looking forward to the journey, then you’ll likely find that it’s a bunch of fun. So get psyched. You should also build up your energy in the days running up to the trip; it’s much easier to have fun when you’re not tired.
Load the Music Playlists
Is it even a road trip if you don’t have an awesome playlist to accompany you on the journey? We don’t think so. In the days running up to the trip, look at putting some of your favorite tracks into a special playlist. They can include your present favorites, the ones that form the soundtrack to your relationship, seasonal singalong songs, and those all-out road trip hits that deserve to be heard on every road trip.
Fun on the Road
Try as you might, however, you’re not going to be singing your heart out for every mile of the journey. When the music gets a little old, make sure you have some fun activities to keep you both from getting bored. The list of these activities is endless! You can hold a quiz based on Disney movie trivia or the Marvel movies, for instance. Alternatively, you can look up some interesting facts, and wow your partner with fascinating information about the world. Also, keep in mind that a long road trip is a good opportunity to connect with one another, so why not think up some interesting personal questions? You might just learn a thing or two about one another.
Interesting Routes
Your enthusiasm for the journey is going to be dampened somewhat if you know you’re just taking the most boring route around, especially if it’s a long one. As such, can you look at making your route more interesting? There might be a historical attraction or something else worthy of your attention somewhere along the route.
Looking After Each Other
Finally, make sure that you’re looking out for each other. Everyone will be much happier if they have opportunities to rest, they’re well-fed and know they’re being taken care of.
