Broad A: I love schooltime because I get to be a kid again!
Broad Z: Not me. I really dreaded summer coming to an end and school started. I just wasn’t a bookworm like you are A.
Broad A: This time, the mail brought me a product that brings nostalgia to my heart. Remember how we all had to wrap our kids books in brown paper before they began school?
Broad Z: OMG, I SOOOO remember having to cut up the Stop & Shop bags and wrap them around my books. Then I’d DRAW pictures all over them. That was one of the fun parts. Well, at least PERSONALIZING them was.
Broad A: Well, Book City Jackets has introduced the COOLEST book covers in that same brown wrapping paper, thick and stiff. ONLY they have reproduced art on their covers.
Broad Z: Yes, I got some from them as well. The art was very unusual and once it was wrapped on the book, it felt like it really BELONGED there.
Broad A: Other covers carry names: FICTION, BOOK, etc. These art nouveau covers made my books look like ancient treasures. Drawings by Boey, Nishat Akhtar and Michael Hsiung are some of the cover art.
Broad Z: These book jackets are certainly reminiscent of those school days, but with a more adult look. I may not have liked going back to school, but if I could have taken ALL art related classes, you wouldn’t have been able to drag me out! So, I just love the idea of being able to carry around these works of art.
Broad A: I got three covers and they are whimsical and beautiful at the same time. You all know how Broad Z and I love ART and here it is, covering all my mystery books with some great illustrations.
Broad Z: I know you LOVED the illustrations “A” – but did you check out the one’s that said “fiction” and “non-fiction” – I think those are just the coolest. I want my whole LIBRARY at home to have these jackets.
Broad A: You put the book covers on just like in the old days, and as Jeremy from Book City Jackets says – “You’ll always have a place to jot down notes as you read.“
Broad Z: Can you imagine shelves and shelves of books covered in these? I’d just love to be able to look at my growing collection of books and see them covered in this funky and eclectic art.
Broad A: I am eternally greatful to Book City Jackets for making my books stand out with oomph and jazz!
Broad Z: I’m thinking they’d be a great stocking stuffer gift for anyone who loves to read, those who like to decorate and re-decorate, and people who seem to always take notes when they have a book in hand.
I’ve already got a few people picked out who’d appreciate these (and I won’t have to spend a fortune on gifts, as these are just so reasonable and unusual – that they’d definitely make an impression).
Book City Jackets are available in their online store and retail outlets and range in price from $9.00 – $12.00 per set of three.
Thank you to Jeremy of Book City Jackets for providing the Review Broads with these book jackets to review.
