Broads “A” and “Z” got the opportunity to try Near East 100% Natural Gourmet Meal Kit with Couscous, Seasoning and Sauce Mix (Add Chicken), Flavor: Chicken Provencal as well as a couple of boxes of CousCous
Broad A: Couscous. Good grain. Yum. I have long used couscous as both side dish and full meals for convenience with enhanced nutrition.
Broad Z: I’ve eaten it plenty of times, but this is the FIRST time I’m making it at home. I always thought that it was difficult to make, so I stayed away and just ordered it when I dine out at my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant.
Broad A: I prepared this particular meal kit with tofu and added roasted peppers. I heard knocking on the door, and all the neighbors were pooled on my porch asking for dinner! What smells so great? Lemme see? Grains?
Broad Z: LOL, that’s what happens when you live in a complex and your neighbors can smell your great cooking “A.” Unfortunately, I have no neighbors (they’re still up north until the “season” begins), but that means that this dinner is MINE ALL MINE!
Broad A: Before I could zip out my camera, I had locked the door, fled to the kitchen and scoffed the entire meal (that’s the thing about being single – I can eat in large quantities).
Broad Z: You ate ALL of it by yourself? I shared mine with my hubby. Well, he kindly tried it. He’s not one to try new things and it’s a big deal for him to taste something new. He actually ATE IT.
Broad A: It’s a good thing that couscous is not fattening. One of the most nutritious of grains, along with millet and quinoa, couscous carries that fab Mediterranean flavor and scent with a texture that not only fills, but demands is own attention as a dinner entrée.
Broad Z: I have to tell you that unlike you “A”, mine was not a vegetarian meal. I added chicken instead of the tofu and made an amazing dinner.
Broad A: I always buy Near East products. They’re fast and fabulous.
Broad Z: Me too. I’ve been buying various flavors of their pilaf for MANY, MANY years. Did you know that they offer over 30 varieties of Middle Eastern foods like falafel (my mom always made that for us), tabouleh, etc.
Broad A: I come home from work so tired that I need nutrition and healing – FAST. My friend Shirley adds lentils, cucumber, whole chopped cooked egg, adamo beans and a secret source she will not divulge and I am in heaven!
Broad Z: Sounds DELISH!!! See if you can get the secret from her…..I’d LOVE to try it.
Broad A: Near East also makes rice pilaf, whole grain blends, falafel with tahini sauce, taboule and pasta. Instead of flying to the near East, like Broad Z, I enjoy it right in my living room!
Broad Z: You mean you don’t want to dine in that WONDERFUL restaurant that I visit in the Marais (Paris) every year? I have a place that makes a tagine that will leave you wanting to move in permanently.
Broad A: Great dish, fast to prepare.
Broad Z: You’re ignoring me. Hey, now I can have the same great food that I get when I travel….right here in South Florida. So, I take it you LOVED it.
Broad A: Sure did….I give it 4 STARS.
Broad Z: My sentiments exactly.
