Last year I discovered what I thought was just the BEST frozen pizza I had ever eaten. It was on naan bread, and it was made by a company called Tandoor Chef. I still love the fact that I can buy these single serve frozen pizza’s that taste home made, with the freshest of ingredients.
It’s been a while since I’ve tried anything NEW in the food department, and since MAY IS BURGER MONTH (bet you didn’t know that one), I figured that I’d beat all the other bloggers to the punch and tell you about a burger that’s a little DIFFERENT.
I’ve been the vegetarian, vegan, cardboard tasting fake-burger route, but since Tandoor Chef won me over with their pizza, I figured that I’d give their newest product – Vegetable Masala Burgers a try. While I’m NOT a vegan (love my red meat – which is probably why I have high cholesterol), I do enjoy flavor.
From first glance, these frozen patties had an odd color. Much lighter than any other vegetarian or vegan burgers I’ve tried, the Tandoor Chef’s variety had a slightly yellow cast. After a quick three minutes on each side on the stove top, I was about to find out exactly why. The blast of Indian spices hit me as I took my first bite. Not for the faint of heart (and those who don’t LOVE a mouthful of spicy deliciousness), no seasoning was needed, no ketchup or mustard or mayo need be added, as a matter of fact…these burgers are perfect JUST THE WAY THEY ARE.
At only 120 calories each, they are portion controlled and thoroughly filling and the seven vegetables that make up the burger assures that you’re getting a balanced meal. My only disappointment is that they are difficult to find and my local grocer carries so few of the Tandoor Chef products.
