Single Serve Brewing System for Coffee
Yeah, yeah, we’ve heard it all! Java, mocha java, cappuccino, latte, so what is new? Hmm, this looks a little different – I’m going to try it!
Coffee is my mantra, my goddess, my religion in the morning. Without it, I am dreary and hag like. After that first sip, I slip into Greek myth, Persephone, Athena. I am HERE! So I take my coffee seriously. Not too big, not too small, just right!
When Dr. Drip sent me their new single serve coffee brewing system, that combines classic drip brewing method with convenience and portability, I was in! Each packet contains a unique mug perching filter packed with freshly ground organic Arabica beans.
The Experience:
First, it’s 6 am, I’m up and caffeine deprived! So maybe I am clumsy? Possible. But when I snapped the pre-cut top off the filter packet, the coffee spilled all over my counter, and floor. NOT SO HAPPY am I! I spend 5 minutes cleaning the counter and floor.
The filter and coffee are a little flimsy but adequate and I placed it over my mug. WAIT! I have to BOIL the water. Not so happy am I! I realize that I have to wait with my Mr. Coffee pot too but it wasn’t my ROUTINE. You have to realize that I am 62 and I like my routine. For young moms and dads on the go, this would be a great way to fit in that cup of java while making lunches or preparing the brief.
The coffee itself was strong, full bodied and very tasty. I like a lighter coffee, Einsteins is my idea of stealth and wonder in the coffee world, so again, this was just a mismatch, as most of my friends like a stronger brew. And the taste is very elegant café, with lots of flavor. This comes across the taste buds as a superior coffee blend.
The coffee comes in a box that contains 5 single serve drip packs at 8.99 per box. To purchase online, check out www.drdripcoffee.com. Would I buy it? No. That comes to almost $2 per cup when I can make a pot for much less. Is it worth it for convenience sake? I think so, situationally, especially if you like to camp or hike, or just want one cup of coffee in the morning. That is NEVER the case with me, I like my two huge mugfulls, and again, I like a mild taste. Also, I do like the organic taste of Dr. Drip, I am just not the perfect market for the product. BUT YOU MIGHT BE! And when I hike I do mind taking along my thermos, so this might be a good idea. But how do you boil the water? Another Dr. Drip conundrum.
Dr. Drip Coffee is available for purchase online.
