Last month, September 20, 2011, Scholastic Storybook Treasures released the Second Volume in their new “My First” collection, and I was lucky enough to be allowed to review it! I ADORE Scholastic Storybook Treasures, as do my grandchildren, as they bring thoughtful, entertaining and award winning stories to life with stunning illustrations and celebrity narration. Not only that – I enjoy them as much as my grandchildren do, and that’s saying a lot for a person who reads 3 books a day! Sometimes, the visual AND auditory presentation is more fun!
In May 2011, Scholastic debuted the “My First” series, a new line of DVDs created just for little ones to support and create a love of reading in the pre- and early learner. The set, which was named 2011 DVD of the Year by Creative Children Magazine, created such a marketplace buzz, that Scholastic has put together this second collection for the 2-4 age group. Teaching cooperation, friendship and problem solving, SPOON contains 13 adorable stories (award winners, including the Caldecott Honor, an ALA Notable Video and an American Film Festival Blue Ribbon Award).
YOU CANNOT get any better than Scholastic! If you are a home teaching mom, a busy career mom, or just a super mom, these DVDs present stories that are so timely and classic, that they teach children creatively and in a joyous manner. Let your children learn to read, and they will always succeed!

I have found the Scholastic Storybook Treasures to be the most alluring DVDs in town for my grandchildren. As we listen to each delightful story, and dance and read along and sing the songs, we are all, as a family, transported back to the thrill of reading. Two is the age to introduce your children and grandchildren to the joy of reading, and it makes a huge impact on whether your toddler will grow to love reading. There is NO BETTER gift than a Scholastic Storybook Treasure DVD set to fill them with a passion for stories.
My favorite? Hush Little Baby! Of course! And, SPOON! We all got up, sand and hootchied around the house as we listened.
What’s your favorite?
