I am big on children’s music, for it teaches in the background and gives our children the sense of rhythm and song.

Alex Mitnick has won 16 national awards for his children’s music. Alex Mitnick teaches them about what music can do for them! It’s so good, it may even inspire them to want to take piano classes

This one is one of his best.  Alex and his band showcase rock, folk pop, reggae and world music with words and lyrics that as SO KID FRIENDLY~!  We all love dinosaurs – well so does Alex!

When you’re child is in one of those grumpy moods, settle in with I’m So Glad and start the toe stomping and smiley faces going.  I’m So Glad, the first song on the album, is based on a Nigerian song of peace.  The Tongue Song sings along and Crocodile introduce reggae slinging to the kids and the beat is great.  Kangaroo has a fast tempo, an up and at it song that thrills your kids and has you dancing in the aisles of the kitchen.  The contemplative songs, Water Lily (OMMMM) and Blue Sky Time (the quieter I am the deeper I see) allows children to realize that music can be shoutful or peaceful and meditative.  Music screams out a rock and roll delight with a tad of gospel thrown in.

I love the eclectic sense of this CD, with words about and for kids that give them a sense of fun and nature.  All too often, music for children is about noise.  Alex Mitnick teaches them about what music can do for them!

Jazz musicians Tony, Keith and John give the drums, bass and electric piano a great beat, and the four guys together will knock you socks off.

This 2012 Parents Choice Award CD lauds the Independent Music Award single “Kangaroo.”
