Meet the quick-witted prankster, Till Eulenspiegel and learn about his antics by listening to Richard Strauss’ masterpiece as presented by Conductor Stephen Simon and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. After the thought provoking introduction, Meet Till Eulenspiegel, the orchestra plays spectacular music, while the engaging narrator, Yadu entertains listeners with his delightful interpretation of the story of the young, Till Eulenspiegel. Some of the charming stories fromTill Eulenspiegel that are covered in the CD include: The Tightrope and the Shoes, The Priests, The Tailor, and The Baker.
Yudu conveys the stories in a way that objectively illustrate Til’s literal interpretation of events and carefully frames the outcome of the story by explaining the essence and meaning of the work. Yudu explains, “Till’s spirit teaches us the importance of lightness of heart and cheerfulness of mind that is needed in our lives but what Till failed to understand is that we must choose our audiences’ wisely for some people, humor is no laughing matter.” Young listeners will be entertained and come away with a frame of reference to put the stories of Till Eulenspiegel into perspective.
Another educational highlight of Merry Pranks of Master Till is provided by Bonnie Ward Simon who informs listeners about the back ground and history of the work. The CD lists the total playing time at less than an hour (47:54). Every minute and aspect of this superior production is top notch and of the highest quality, the information was enlightening, the stories were entertaining and the music was absolutely wonderful. Children and their families will love this musical experience and educators and the students in their classrooms will also greatly enjoy the benefits of learning with this medium.
