Author: Willow
“Tirissa and the Necklace of Nulidor” is an enchanting and lovely novel and deserves to become a children’s classic. When “Tirissa” came, I thought, hmmmm, another new novelist writing about magic.” Well, at least I will read it.
And I was so wrong. “Tirissa” swells and moves like the tides, undulating and flowing into a story of courage, and a plot that deserves several reads. As an adult, I still cleave to the magical ways of the imagination. “Tirissa” impacts with true emotive art, and compelling language and imagery. To say that I loved it is an understatement. Enchanting, full of human foibles, Tirissa and her two companions, Oglo the troll and Storge the guard make a journey that is original as well as memorable. Compare to Narnia? No, Tirissa has its own voice and lessons taught weaved within a beautiful plot.
Tirissa, wearer of the Necklace of Nulidor, begins her journey from home when her family and friends change dramatically into zombie like people that Tirissa names The Deadened. She intuits that it is an evil spell. A horrible creature called a Beak appears before the town Deadens. Tirissa goes to to Mistress Fraleaf, the village herbalist, who introduces the Beak as The Advisor, selected by the King to give orders that all the Deadened must follow. Tirissa wonders why she is not affected, and finds out that she is half wood nymph and half human. She senses great evil, and indeed evil comes. And Tirissa starts her journey to save her beloved town.
I am not going to reveal the plot, which is magnificently written and truly brilliant – action jumps from every page. This book is so enchanting, it is not to be missed. Miss Willow has done a brilliant job, and I highly recommend her spell-ridden, totally human magic with Tirissa and her friends on a journey of the heart. And I simply can’t wait for the second novel in the series! Please, Ms. Willow, can I review it?
You have to get this book for your children age 10 and up and for yourself too! Totally unique, and reminiscent of Alice Hoffman this book delves into all that we love and fight for. Bravo.
