The One Good Thing
Author: Kevin Alan Milne
Like Nicholas Sparks, Kevin Milne writes a gentle love story, with a tender ending.
Halley and Nathan Steen live a happy life with their kids, Ty and Alice. Nathan is one of those good men, always doing good deeds. In fact, as long as Halley has known him, Nathan carries 6 stones in his pocket. After each good deed of the day, he transfers one stone to the other pocket. And he teaches his family to do the same.
Suddenly, Nathan is killed in a horrendous car accident, and Halley, Ty and Alice shatter. Nathan is their pivot, their North star, and the family doesn’t know what to do. As she goes through Nathan’s things, Halley boots up his computer and searches his email. What she finds derails the family – all except for Alice who has faith in her father.
A tug on the heartstrings, a feel good novel that would be a great beach read, with a gentle push toward family, and a great protagonist in teenage Alice.

Laurie says
This book is very preachy and unbelievable. I honestly don’t see how it was published. No kid would ever do all the things that the MC did in this book. Very disappointed that I purchased this book, and that so many people bought into it. In children’s publishing, the first rule is to not preach, because kids won’t want to read it. The same should apply to books for adults.
