While I’m not an e-book reader and I don’t own a Kindle (YET…hint, hint), I do love nothing more than a wonderful short story. “A” loves her novels, but my time is taken up by oh, so many distractions and I find that I’m able to begin and end a short story without the guilt of never finishing a book.
Scar Tissue is a collection of seven wonderful stories by the author of Good People and The Amateurs. Marcus Sakey writes brilliant crime fiction and Scar Tissue just proves that he can catch and hold the reader even in this shorter form. His ability to capture the character and develop it in such a short frame is nothing short of amazing.
Sakey invites us to read a collection of character driven stories that give us a glimpse of stories of love (not love stories) and wounds that are gritty and real. From The Days When You Were Anything Else, when I found myself drawn to a former criminal who’d do anything in his power to help a daughter who could care less, to Breathing, where we see a hit man give up the life that he knows for a women that he loves. The criminals become our heroes and we root for the underdog.
I only wish that he had put this collection together as a book (as I love the feel of a book when I read).
Mr. Sakey would like to give all who comment below a free chapter of his book. Please include your e-mail address, so that I can pass it along to the publisher.
