Boy meets girl. Man meets woman. Simple, yes? Yet In the Bag takes a set of single parents with two quirky teenagers and sets out to mix it up – successfully. Sassy and sweet, internet ready Webb Nelson and audacious Coco Sprinkle manage to get their parents into a swirl of fun.
Nelson Quinn travels to Spain to set up a gallery exhibit – that’s what he does. He decides to take along 17 year old Webb, as he usually does to acquaint Webb with Europe. Coco’s mom, Daisy Sprinkle, is a world famous chef, and she drags Coco along to Paris for a “vacation” while she is in between jobs. When the “Parent Trap” teenagers fall for each other via the internet, they decide to meet when their parents aren’t looking. Ingenuously, Webb sends 2 hour texts to his dad while traveling to Paris to meet Coco. When they meet, the sparks fly. And when Andrew and Coco meet when Solange, the gallery owner and Coco’s best friend, sparks fly there too. Coco has been called to Madrid by Solange to cover the catering for her big opening, as her caterer has quit. Andrew and Daisy invite the kids to meet their “friends” for dinner, and Coco and Webb stare at each other when they meet at the restaurant – what is going on with their parents? Their parents are on a European date!
Fast and furious, delightful and succulently sweet, with a back in forth among the characters via texting and talking, this quadruple love story is like watching monkeys jump from limb to limb. Cleverly crafted, this is a little novel delightfully written, that shows us how to fall in love with In the Bag.
Super summer read.
