David Baldacci succeeds in capturing his readers through nuance and great plot. Seen through the eyes of Chief Beth Mason and her sister, Mace, “True Blue” remains true to its colors.

Mace, a top D.C. policewoman, finds herself abducted while on stakeout. Pumped with multiple drug and meth injections, she is then blind walled through several armed robberies. Her gun, which she can barely carry, is not loaded when she alone is apprehended and caught. So drugged she can barely stand, much less comprehend what is happening and that she has been set up, Mace goes to prison for two years.

Thrown out of the force, her sister, D.C. Police Chief Beth Mason can do nothing but make sure that she survives for the two years. When Mace gets out, she is burning with the resolve to find out who ambushed her so she can be proven innocent – and get back on the police force. It is the only job she has ever wanted. On top of everything, she has to watch out for Mona Danforth, an unethical and corrupt U.S. attorney for D.C. The job her father held until he was shot on duty.
