Whip Smart: Lola Montez Conquers the Spaniards
Kit Brennan
Based on a true historical figure, Eliza Gilbert (a.k.a. Lola Montez), Whip Smart chooses to allow Lola some fictional attributes and plots to ensure her sexy, erotic nature is exposed inside a plot that is criminally skillful and full of titillating scenes.
Lola is escaping an atrocious divorce trial, 1842, in London, and flees to Spain. Her trip, financed by Juan de Grimaldi, associated with both the theater and the government, comes with a caveat: Lola must spy and give information on one General Diego de Leon, an illustrious Spanish soldier who is also a generous lover and horseman. Lola falls in love with Diego and surges across the continent of Spain to France.
If you love historical fiction in the manner of Tom Jomes and lots of erotica, you will adore this novel. I did not fall in love with it. There’s a reason this is on kindle for only 99 cents. Go buy a chocolate bar instead, you’ll enjoy it more.
