Getting Even
Sarah Rayner
The ultimate revenge novel, Getting Even gets even better with each page! Saucy, snarky, loveable, and hilarious, Getting Even is one of those novels that keeps you up and sneaks into your dreams! Loved it!
Orianna and Ivy are colleagues in a large advertising firm. Orianna is an art director and Ivy, though older, is her copywriter. Clare is their department head.
Orianna is currently dating Dan, head of the production department at the same agency as Orianna and Ivy. Ivy is married to Ed, whom she hates. Throw in Russell, the head of finance and Rob, the gay trainer who lusts after Dan and who is both Ivy and Dan’s trainer and the fun begins.
When Orianna is made Creative Director of the agency, she ponders the offer. She asks that Ivy become co-head but the Board of Directors says no because Ivy is known for her nasty remarks. And when Orianna tells Ivy of her promotion, all hell breaks loose as Ivy goes in for the kill: she will make Orianna regret her decision to take the position without her!
As Dan and Orianna heat up, and Ivy begins to leak nasty untrue rumors to Dan, leading Dan and the entire office to believe that Dan is gay, Orianna hears a few of the rumors and starts to doubt Dan’s masculinity. Enter a new assistant for Ivy, a pretty young blonde thing who likes to sleep around, and Orianna begins to wonder about Dan’s fidelity.
As Russell and Ivy continue their long affair with financial benefits to Ivy stolen from the company, Getting Even heats up to a crispy bonfire and the characters shuffle like a deck of fixed cards.
Lively and full of characters who we love to love and love to hate, Rayner creates a plot that simply dishes out all the goods. One of the best novels that I have read in a while, Getting Even is not to be missed!
