Changing Lanes
Author: Kathleen Long
Kathleen Long’s lovely and lilting romance novel presents Abby Halladay – a girl who lives her life by her perfect plans. When Abby is fired from her job as a columnist, and discovers that her fiancé Fred has left for Paris, France “to find himself” two months before their wedding, she begins to free fall. They have bought a house together in Paris, New Jersey, and when Kathleen travels back to Paris where she has lived all her life, she discovers the house is falling down. Termites have ruined the foundation and the inside of the house. She moves in with her parents and her grandmother while she tries to figure out how to rebuild the house and her life. As far as Abby is concerned, her life is over.
But when Abby decides to drive her father’s ancient cab Bessie, she relearns how much she loves Paris and its inhabitants. She starts taking pictures to help the townspeople remember “moments” in their lives, and finds that the man who will rebuild her house is her old boyfriend, a man she left without telling him she was leaving.
Kathleen Long is a well know romantic author and in Changing Lanes, she gives us another sweet novel to fall into and cheer Abby on. When Fred returns will Abby make the right choice? Of course she will!
