Blood Pressure Down – The Ten Step Program to Lower your Blood Pressure in 4 Weeks without Prescription Drugs
Author: Janet Bond Brill, PhD, R.D., LDN
At first I thought WHATTTTTT?
Lower your blood pressure without DRUGS? Why we love drugs in this country – we admire Big Pharm! So I opened up Janet’s Little Book with a tad of trepidation, a tap of herewegoagainselfhelitis and a nod of well, I have to review it so-what-the-hey!
I have always believed that blood pressure numbers are part genetics and part diet. I have very low blood pressure, I believe because I yell and scream it all out. However, Janet Brill hits upon a plan that made sense to me. I haven’t tried it – but I DO eat all the foods that she researches to lower blood pressure the natural way, and Kiwis are on my every day list of foods to eat. I found her book interesting and well researched and because I am a natural food junkie, I tried her recipes and loved them. I think if I had high blood pressure, I would certainly put this book next to the large gallon of Ben and Jerry’s in the freezer – and eat spinach instead. I believe that we HAVE to change our eating in this country, and I loved reading Janet’s research and plan of action. It reminded me of Foods That Heal – Foods that Hurt, and this is the Bible of my Kitchen.
Nearly 1/3 of adult Americans have been diagnosed with hypertension and another quarter are on their way. McDonald’s arcs may well be the arcs of high blood pressure (this is my opinion).
