Am I glamorous? Not really, although I tend to talk the talk sometimes.
Am I a plain Jane? Definitely not, I like looking good (whatever that means at the moment).
So, what am I?
I suppose I’m a lot like most of you. I probably spend an average amount of time each day, showering, doing my hair, putting on all of my creams and lotions and then taking out the BOX of make-up.
THE BOX!!! Yes, I have a BOX of cosmetics. Why? Well, probably because I have a difficult time finding the colors that are flattering to my skin tone. So, I buy and try, buy and try, buy and try …. and put them in THE BOX.
Occasionally I’ll find a lipstick that looks good (usually something outrageous, like my personality). There are bronzers that I’ve bought that are deep enough for my skin as well. BUT, I have had the most difficult time finding foundation and blush, and even a classic lipstick that works well with the olive undertones in my skin. In the summer it’s even WORSE. Olive and tan – it looked great when I was a kid before I had all of the sun and age spots. I was one of those teens who always had an enviable deep dark color in the summer. Unfortunately, as an adult – I can’t find cosmetics that are rich enough to complement my skin.
Always on the hunt (for more items to put in THE BOX I suppose), I came upon Thevi Cosmetics. They are a small company with a BIG idea. To sell cosmetics that celebrate our diverse ethnic backgrounds through the common and powerful love of color from our cultures and traditions.
Geared to those of us with ethnic complexions that need more intense color Thevi Cosmetics give those of us of Asian, South Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean descent a line of color that complement our skin tones.
I was thrilled with the Sheer Matte Blush in Rare Raisin as well as the High Impact Lipstick in Ripe Fig that they sent me to try (along with 3 different colors of foundation, so I could find one that works with my coloring).
I found the Sheer Matte Blush to go on evenly and it had a very natural look to the color. For the first time in YEARS, I can switch from using bronzer as my cheek color and use REAL COLOR again (although I still love the look of bronzer for a dramatic effect).
The High Impact Lipstick was rich and moist with color, and was perfect for a daytime look. I tossed my Bettie Davis Red into THE BOX (to be used when I want that vixen look) and now have a much softer, more subtle look.
For those of you who have deeper skin tones, ethnic complexions or just want MORE COLOR in your life – Thevi Cosmetics may be just what you’re looking for.
If you’ve got a minute, you might want to take a look at the videos that they’ve created on their blog. I found them to be very helpful in giving “how to” instructions for creating the looks that are inspired by Red Carpet moments and Hollywood Glamour.
I was pleased with the color, quality and prices of these cosmetics and based upon those that I tried, I would have to say that I’m much more comfortable in my skin now.
