I live in Utah. Desert. Altitude. Attitude! Hot. Freezing. No in between. So yes, I have dry skin. Some days my face feels like a cactus! And looks like one. And yet, I also have oily areas on my face. I wear makeup every day, and my pores inhale all that oil and gunk in makeup, as well as the inversion that settles in the valley of Salt Lake City, with a pollution rate that is one of the highest in the country.
As you all know, as Broad A, I have to keep up with Broad Z, who is the skin care Diva of Divas. (Thank goodness she is so generous and sends me lots of skincare products – although so far, Skin MD Natural and SkinFree Corrective Face Nectar have been my all time favorites so far). When I talk to Z, she tells me all about these fantastic products she is trying to improve her skin (and I feel so envious) – until NOW!
My face finally gleams! And it’s not about the makeup I wear or how deftly I apply it. It comes from the beginning steps with all natural products of cleaning and protecting my porcelain skin (Irish I am, with white skin and dark hair). I always use sunscreen, and I have been using SkinMD now for over a week, and I can see the difference. Not only are my pores oil free, but my skin remains moist even in our 7 degree winter weather.
When I went to the SkinMD website, I read about all the ingredients. Since this is a shielding product, it traps the moisture that the weather strips from my skin.
“By using a shielding lotion that bonds with the outer layer of your skin, you can keep irritants out and moisture in. Most moisturizers do not seal in the body’s own moisture, they artificially lubricate the outer layers of skin. When they wear off, the lubrication is gone and the original dryness remains. Sometimes this process will draw out the body’s natural moisture and contribute to the skin’s dehydration,” writes Dr. Peter Helton, a board certified dermatologist specializing in cosmetic dermatology.”
“Shielding lotions are an effective dry-skin treatment because they bond with the skin and protect it for long periods of time.” States Dr. Lisa Benest, a board certified dermatologist of Burbank, CA.”
I know that I see and try many skin products, due to my own curiosity and Broad Z’s generosity in sending me samples to improve my skin (my BFF!). I have been told that I look ten years younger than I am. I truly believe that products like SkinMD assist in keeping my skin moist – and young.
Please know that Z and I are honest in our reviews; and I do not easily fall in love with many products. However, I feel and see the results of SkinMD and I will be using it daily as one of my skin fundamentals.
