When it arrived in the mail, I thought HMMM what’s this? I have lots of friends with babies and what I hear in Utah is that diaper rash and parent hands are rampant. This harsh climate does not adhere to just any old cream or moisturizer. So when Dr. Hess showed up at my door with udder ointment, baby balm and lip balm, I tried it immediately. I didn’t like the Vaseline type texture although from their website I knew that this was a similar ingredient in the balm, nor did I like the smell, but boy did I love the results. This rich emollient is for the VERY dry skin that erupts like the mountain peaks in my part of the States. Very cool to use on Clem too for his paws that become very dry and chapped in the winter. I suggest this cream, much like butter balm, for any kind of chapped and dry skin, and my friends raved about the rashes that disappeared after they had attacked those baby rashes for months with other products!
My grandchildren used the lip balm and stated that their chapped lips became smooth and soft within a week. This is a heavy duty creaming and healing ointment that is durable and necessary for those dreary chapped lips, baby butts, and human hands and feet, and I loved it.
From the Dr. Hess Website:
What is in Dr Hess Udder Ointment?
Dr Hess Udder Ointment contains 13 emollients or skin
moisturizers/softeners, as well as a blood circulating and
oxygenating ingredient, Methyl Salicylate (which also gives it
the minty smell, and a few antibacterial agents.
Why does it work so well?
Dr Hess Udder Ointment works so effectively because it also
contains an ingredient which opens skin pores. Once the pores
are open, the 13 emollients are allowed to enter deep into the
skin and begin the healing process.
And is it all natural?
The one non-natural ingredient, petrolatum (same as Vaseline) has
a characteristic of then rising to the surface of the skin
acting as a protectorant against further skin damage and
allowing the emollients time to heal and soften the skin.
