I’m a fitness freak of nature.
I eat very healthy and work out daily (sometimes twice daily). Also, if you read you would know that I’m a tech nut. So when I was asked to review the Jawbone UP is was really excited to play with some wearable tech that would help with my active lifestyle. Would the Jawbone Up keep up with my active lifestyle or would it crack under the pressure? I tried it out and it kept up with me, which is rare!
The setup was easy enough, but unfortunately there was no wireless sync function (that would have been cool) instead it relies on a headphone jack to upload your data and charge your device. So I charged up and took it to the gym and beyond for the next few days.
I found myself obsessed with uploading my information so I could see how many calories I burned today or how well I slept. The app shows an amazing and colorful breakdown of your day and night. Which brings me to my next screaming cool thing about the Jawbone UP, the app.
The Up app is an amazing coming just about every fitness app I’ve ever used in one cool easy to use area while keeping track of my vitals? Yep, this is near prefect. You can track your activity and sleep as I had previously stated but here you can also use it to track your food and nutritional intake. Thank you Jawbone for allowing me to delete so many of my other fitness apps so I can free up room on my iPhone from Verizon.
The design of the wristband is cool too! It stays in place unless I had an insane sweat going. The look and feel of it is rugged. It really is rugged I wore it everywhere and it was fine (pool, shower, washing dishes, it even survived during a MMA class). This thing has to nearly be indestructible.
So lets break it down the Pros and Cons of the Jawbone Up:
- Good Design
- The App
- Easy Setup
- Long Battery Life
- Charging is annoying
- No wireless sync
- Almost lost the cap numerous times
All in all this may be my favorite fitness accessory with the exception of my favorite sneakers. The app is great and will help anyone to get fit and stay fit. Other than some very minor nit picky things I really liked in as the complete fitness tech accessory.
The Jawbone Up is a great addition to your Verizon phone and is essential for those who want to track their fitness, goals, weight loss, etc.

It sure looks like a cool gadget, but I think I’ll slit my wrists when I find that I consumed 10000 cal and burned 0 thanks to my inactive lifestyle!
Just kidding. I’m working on my fitness and this might just be what I need for further motivation.
Thanks for your honest review. 🙂
