Toy Reviews & Giveaway: Designed by you Special Occasion Fashion Kit

As a sewer and a grandmother, I felt delighted when I was asked to review Creativity for Kids: “Designed by You Special Occasions Fashion Kit”.  Isa, my 11 year old granddaughter, is a fashion diva and sketches fashions and gowns constantly.  She designs prom dresses, and like her diva grandma, plenty of evening gowns for those oh so special nights on the town with caviar and Kool Aid.  Isa and her friend Annie, both budding fashion artistas, sew these costumes on Isa’s sewing machine and then we have fashion shows.  Since I have always sewn, and even made my own wedding gown, I thought it would be a shoe-in to teach Isa how to sew and design – NOT!  Like me, Isa is self taught and wants to “do it all herself” (ah, those Review Broad genes passing through!).

When I received the Creativity for Kids “Designed By You Special Occasions Fashion Kit,” it was a dream come true!  Instead of searching for an empty notebook, running to the store to buy pencils and forgetting a pencil sharpener and looking for needles and thimbles, Isa and I spent an unforgettable afternoon “making designer history.”  At 11, Isa is becoming independent, and I am delighted that she trusts herself enough to just jump in and design and sew elegant clothes.  She is passionate about both, and learned to thread the needle on my Brother sewing machine after one try!

She and Annie and I dove into this kit like scent hounds on the hunt!  Isa said. “Oh I love the fabric swatches, the mannequin for draping the enclosed fabric around a pre-made gown to produce something new and exciting and Grandma, I just LOVE you for this kit!”  She and Annie were thrilled to be able to pin the fabric before gluing the fabric on for the final product.  My grandma genes glowed!  Isa loved that she had her own tape measure and Annie grabbed the pins and they started on yet another outfit!  With an extensive amount of supplies, this kit is the best that I have ever seen.  EVERYTHING is included, which as any sewer knows, is the equivalent of the Dali Lama giving a home visit (ok, the metaphor is a little hazy, but you get my drift!).  Annie loved the trims, which were of a very generous amount, and there were so many to choose from, the girls didn’t get into a battle of the sewing divas!


So besides getting kudos for the Grandma of the Year, the “Special Occasions Fashion Kit” provided hours and hours of creative fun while Isa and Annie tried on their Donna Karan wings!

This is an especially nice product.  Everything is top notch, and as I mentioned before, everything any little (or big) sewer/designer needs is included.

NOTHING was left out of this wonderful kit for girls.  Priced at $39.99, this is one of the best Christmas or birthday – or just let’s get some designer jives going – presents that I have seen on the market today.

I know I am being repetitive, but I was truly impressed with the quality and comprehensive products included in this designer kit.  Isa and Annie just loved it, and I had as much fun as they did.  Creativity for Kids has outdone themselves in a lovely, all inclusive activity kit that truly sparks the imagination of your little (or big) designer.  I have to admit, I wanted it all to myself!
