Please welcome guest reviewer Broad “D” to The Review Broads.
The Periscope Book Light in a Book Cover is ideal for traveling! You don’t have to struggle to find adequate lighting when you want to read – it is already there! I know that the readers of The Review Broads are avid readers and what reader doesn’t want to be able to read ANYWHERE (even when there’s little to no light available)?
The Book Light Cover that I tried is made of blue plastic and seems very durable. A high-powered retractable LED “periscoping” light is attached to the book cover, making it convenient for use at home as well as on the go. Simply lift the retractable light from inside of the spine and you’re good to go. The light comes on automatically when you pull it out and turns off on it’s own when you position it back into the cover. It’s even got a built in bookmark as well as a place to carry your important papers (like airline tickets) when traveling.
The LED lighting was great! It allowed my eyes to focus without straining and I didn’t have to use my reading glasses. I read longer without falling asleep. The light was incredibly strong yet had soft focusing and accommodated my turning off my bedside lamp (no disturbing the other side of the bed) and I read just fine without any other lighting. I think it was the fact that the light has a wide angle and is totally adjustable.
Setting the light up and positioning it can be a bit fidgety to begin with; I shined the light into my eyes a couple of times, but once the light was set up it worked perfectly. To prevent the light shining in your eyes, I would have preferred a small switch on the light head that would allow me to turn it on and off before and after use after I had pulled the periscope up, but I’ve learned my lesson and won’t put the light at the same angle when setting it up again.
The cover worked well and I like that there is a choice of two sizes for books (no Kindle here although there is a Periscope Book Light Cover that accommodates both the original Kindle as well as the Kindle2). I liked having the choice of hardcover or smaller paperback sizing. I found the four colors functional but a bit boring.
The Periscope Book Light Cover is made of blue plastic and seems very durable. A high-powered retractable LED periscoping light is attached to the book cover. If you need an adapter for travel, Periscope offers a smaller travel sized adapter for the light.
At around $40.00 for the hardcover style, the cost of this light is quite reasonable. It is available in sizes for hardcover/trade publications, as well as pocketbook sized (and of course for the Kindle or portfolio for work). You can find the Periscope Book Light Cover at bookstores or on the company’s website.
This would make a GREAT present for the person who has everything and who loves to read. I will enjoy many hours of happy reading.
Thank you to the Periscope Book Light in a Bookcover company for allowing our Guest Reviewer “D” to try this great product!
