Author: Layton Green
This combustible novel by Layton Green = an all-nighter, 5 pounds on the hips from 5 quarts of Ben and Jerry’s, and ghastly nightmares! Worth it? A million times over! There is no writer out there (sorry, Dan Brown, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Larry Block, Michael Connolly, and You Biggies) who cuts with the serrated edge of the knife like Layton Grey. His novels produce conflagrations that singe and flair and set the bed on fire! This top author of the occult, with contemplative and intelligent labyrinthine plots, remains at the top of his game in The Metaxy Project.
Derek Miller’s squeak by childhood is finally gone: he is now a top lawyer at one of Atlanta’s best law firms with a salary to match. When his mentor, Dr. Carter, a resident of Atlanta’s most prominent locale, Buckhead, is murdered, Derek stalls. Dr. Carter’s son Jay and Derek were childhood friends, and Dr. Carter took Derek in after Jay’s death. And Derek will never be able to forget that he was drinking and driving the car that caused his best friend’s death Jay’s first year of college. And Dr. Carter has gotten Derek his position at his 5 star firm. When a man in a brown suit begins to follow Derek believe the information he has been given that Dr. Carter did not just die of heart failure: and as Derek retrieves the truth he winds himself into the center of an operation both dark and dangerous, fearing for his own life.
There is no option of revealing a Layton Green plot: first, Green’s complexities lie beyond my talents of review and second, Green can only be read – he is that good. This novel scapegoats into the paranormal, the normal and the powers of the dark, and if you demand the best crime writing available, it is a must read. Layton Green is simply the best. And The Metaxy Project proves it, once more.
