The next time I get raped during a poker game I know just what to do. Recently I received an odd assortment of products from Brybelly, including a dozen stainless steel coaches/rape whistles and a dozen playing cards. While I am an avid card player I have no experience coaching (and if you knew me you would know why) or being raped. So this is my chronicle of my last poker game (by the end you will find out why).
Lets first talk about the alcohol in my system, lest for realities sake that I’d drunken quite a bit of vodka leading up to this game. We drew for dealer and poured more drinks. So time had passed and I was playing ok, the cards were a bit slippery and I was having trouble handling them, but that could have just been the state I was in.
Then something happened. I was dealt pocket 5s. If I was sober at the time and someone raised BIG before the flop I wouldn’t have played it, but I was feeling Stoli Strong so I decided to go for it. I flopped quads…I know…that never happens. So I played it cool, and let everyone raise me. On the river I went all in, forcing two others to as well.
And here is where the whistle came in handy.
I immediately ripped my shirt off and took big swig of the Stoli and began running around the room as if I had just scored a goal in European Football. I was on to the couch and in the faces of the two losers – blowing my whistle loud and hard (yeah, they’re loud). Then out of nowhere (actually pretty predictable now that I think about it)l I was hit in his face (the only appropriate response when being whistled at mere centimeters away after losing your paycheck). I know I deserved it, but when he tried to rip it from my neck the lanyard would not break (so they are tough).
Overall I kinda dug the Brybelly products but I wouldn’t have gotten this black eye if not for them. I now resolve to not whistle in peoples faces while drunk at a card game.
1. The cards are a great value at 12 decks for less than $12. They are standard size, and have a good feel when you’re playing (not at all flimsy).
2. The whistles are crisp and loud. These are made of stainless steel and will last a LOT longer than the cheap aluminum ones. Still, I wouldn’t let your drunk friends play with them.
Review by Bro “B” – Ben
We received a dozen decks of playing cards & a dozen whistles from Brybelly for this review. Ben just needs to tell a story sometimes. All opinions are our own
