A month of two ago I reviewed a “self help” book that offered nothing but affirmations and so-called wisdom. There were quite a few people were unhappy with that review, and that’s a good thing. so now I have my goddess arms out throwing flower petals inth the Heavens, for The Hardline Self Help Handbook is the exact opposite of that other book. This is a book about reality, how to get there, and how to do the HARD WORK of getting to where you need to be. I congratulate Paula Renaye – she is brilliant. If you are willing to REALLY work and look at yourself as you are, and stop reading self help books that offer nothing but “words of wisdom” RUN don’t WALK to Amazon.com or the bookstore and START your real life NOW!
On the back cover the blurb coers it all –
A crash course in Self Tough Love. If you’e really sserious about making chages in your life and are ready to do the tough work, The Hardline Self Help Handbook gives you the tools to do it – fast. Put on your work gloves, a thick skin and a willing attitude, and get to it. You can have what you really want.
Like a 12-step program, this book assisted me in looking at the real reasons I write reviews on a blog instead of publishing my work (although I love writing reviews – as an addendum to the other), why I am in a relationship that feels demeaning (I am finally getting out with some of the exercises in this book), and how to go deeper – those beliefs (I can’t be pretty – my mom won’t allow it – I can’t succeed – only boys can succeed – if I take full responsibility for myself I’ll DIE) that literally allow ourselves to be our own worst enemies.
With charts and directions, one step at a time, the Handbook brings us to self honesty – and a way to outline changes to reach your goals. There are so many GREAT chapters in this book, each one a direct hit on how to do the work to make your life happen – each chapter could be a “Ho to” compendium.
In straight language, with directions, exercises and tasks to do, Paula Renaye creates a handbook for life. Absolutely right on the money! The Hardline Self Help Handbook: What Are You Willing to Do to Get What You Really Want? can be found on amazon.com and bookstores.
