After four years of college (well, technically 6 years) and on his way to going for his Master’s Degree, my son has NO CLUE how to manage his money. He can edit a film, promote a product, write copy, manage a full staff, etc., yet he has not learned how to save, invest or even make his paycheck actually stretch throughout the week. Our schools are teaching our children to get ready for a career, yet they are not prepared for LIFE.
One of the things that I adore about the Complete Idiot’s Guide’s, are that they are laid out with clear and simple methods of how to get ahold of that money that’s been slipping through your fingers and put it to GOOD use (like investing towards your future).
“One of the biggest problems people have with successfully managing their personal finances is that they wait too long to start.“– from the inside cover
Including cautionary notes or “Money Pits”, definitions of financial terms, tips to keep you updated (called “Dollars and Sense”) and bits of little-known information thrown in along the way, this Idiot’s Guide will take your 20 to 30-something from an empty wallet to a full bank account, IF they put the methods outlined in this book into play.
Covering everything from bank accounts to mortgages, insurance to credit cards you’ll be armed with the information you always wanted to help you get EXACTLY what you want. They even cover your car – new, used or lease, and WHERE to find the best deals. What you need to know as a renter to how to buy your first house, all the way to planning for retirement is included in this easy to understand guide.
The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Personal Finance in Your 20s & 30s will help you gain control and teach you WHAT you need to know to manage your money and put money into YOUR wallet. What a great way to lay the foundation for wealth.
I was pleased that there was a LOT to learn even for an old broad like me. I wish that I had been able to consult such a comprehensive (and easy to read) guide 20 or 30 years ago (darn – just gave my age range). This is going to make a great gift for the recent graduate, although I’m NOT WAITING until “B” is done with his next 2 years of school.
He’s getting a copy NOW!
